Churches- St Hubert's-Idsworth-Hampshire.

St Huberts appears from the road like a shining treasure. It just appears and it is there and it is on a hill and its front glows bright white in the sun.

Again, only deciding to visit such places in 4000 degree heat, the hill at first seemed steep and upsetting, but I can confirm, in ill fitting sandals you can make it to the top.

Liking a good bit of Medieval, the church dates back to 1053. It is all that remains of the village of Idsworth which may have been abandoned after the Black Death in the 14th century. So the hill and the bridge you walk past and on was the village? Massive stuff.

Inside is beautiful and I still cannot get my head around seeing the Medieval wall paintings. These are dated from around C1330. In fact I still think about the church most weeks and the area surrounding it.

The wildflowers, the landscape, the trees and the weirdness of standing inside and outside of something so special.

I cannot talk anymore about it as it is too much but do go HERE, HERE and HERE to read more. You can also become a friend of the church if you like.
