Walks-Farlington Marshes-Hampshire-Part 1.

A very peculiar place found just off the junction of the A27. After a sharp turn into the car park, which is free, you then enter a portal full of wildflowers, grazing cows, edgeland curios, wind and above all a very solitary quiet time.

The walk starts from the carpark and continues around the sea wall defence. I went in April so you will need a hat and after the first mile and a half you will notice your ears have stopped hearing when by the water.

Swans gently glide around the marshes watching you, a wonderful group of cows plod around following each other and I think I saw a Dunlin but I cannot be sure. I really hope so as it would be a first-time spot.

Flurries of Brown-tail moth caterpillars line the route, but you may look but don’t touch. I found them to be most pleasant and they let me pass no problem. Go HERE to see them all grown up, looking like little ghosts. Most pleasing.

Moving along past the Hay Field I came to the A27 underpass which we will look at next time.
