Observations- Saturday to Friday- 16th-22nd July.

Saturday 16th July to Friday 22nd July 2022.

Saturday 16th July- Didn’t do much, picked some sweet peas, watched the start of a wasp nest being built. Signs of 30 degree plus temperatures coming on Monday. Fox came alone around 12:30am.

Sunday 17th July- Watered the garden, gave a bee some sugar water to revive its fortunes. Saw the crow family on the roof opposite. Left them some cat food out, the seagulls came for it instead. Still no crow friend/gifting of presents progression. Foxes like cucumber.

Monday 18th July- Too hot, top temperature in the garden 34 degrees. Top temperature by the canal at 3pm, 37. Left some meal worms out for the canal robin. Watered the ants that live under the broken plate, left them a strawberry for refreshment.

Tuesday 19th July- Four hours sleep, fierce heat. Top temperature in the garden 38 degrees. No wind. Sat indoors, had a almond Magnum ice cream. Later once slightly cooler, inspected the wasps nest that has been taken over by ants. Gave them some water. Glad I was off work.

Wednesday 20th July- Not as hot so went to drop a parcel off, no space in the parcel ‘super save all your time’ draws. Wasted my time but found a deceased shrew. I am hoping it was the heat and not the poison boxes by the station. I haven’t seen a shrew in years and its little hand on its chest did me in. I picked it up and put it in the long grass to go back to nature. There is a lot of digging up going on, so its home has been disturbed and now look. Lots of urban gardens have sprung up at the station with Ragwort, Spear Thistle and the lovely bathmats of Hemp Agrimony opening up. Great Willowherb is looking good. I wonder how long before it will all be sprayed and dug up for the super station that relies on driving to get to. Didn’t see the fox.

Thursday 21st July- Still thinking about the Shrew. Wasps nest has vacated. Ants are doing well.

Friday 22nd July- Ate an out of date egg, an out of date piece of bread and an out of date packet of noodles. Tasted fine. Big fox came and ate the rest of the out of date eggs and bread.
