Botanical- The Embankment Apple Tree.
I have watched this apple tree bloom from April through to late September. I have walked past it for the last five years but I started to really notice it early this year. The feeling I had of 2025 feeling weird came true last month. My dad died.
I would occasionally mention the tree to him, show him pictures of the apples and we would try to decipher what kind they were. We decided that it was a discarded core thrown from a train and it had been been allowed to do what it wanted on the railway embankment. That’s as far as it went. I was happy with that.
I may, next autumn if I'm passing, try to grab an apple and see what it is. They are really high up and always full of holes by the time I would come to visit. They are for the Blackbirds.
