Walks, Pickerings Pasture, Widnes, Trans Pennine Trail.

Golden, hazy and 32 degrees. I haven’t been here for a while and I don’t think ever in midsummer. It is part of the Trans Pennine Trail and the more life goes on I am considering walking it all one day. Probably in bits though.

On this trip I turned right instead of left. I am so glad I did. I came across an Obelisk. It was once the site of a shipping beacon used up until the 1970’s. The Obelisk that stands now was built by the men who were redeveloping the site in the 1980’s.

Moving on, there is a bridge that crosses the Ditton Brook, It is practically Tintagel and it is glorious. The steps up to the higher path gives beautiful views across the Mersey Estuary and it is full of butterflies and wild flowers.

As the heat was now intensifying I managed to have a nose at the old landfill site and then walk back again. A pleasant hour of views, Obelisks and bees.
