Infrastructure, Fort Nelson, Royal Armouries, Hampshire.

Visited August 2025.

Fort Nelson is up on a hill as most forts would be. It is very impressive and we spent almost three hours there. Lots of ramparts with views, tunnels, artillery and an excellent gift shop.

‘Overlooking Portsmouth Harbour, this restored Victorian fortress is packed with artillery from across the world. Highlights include a 15th-century Turkish bombard cannon, a gigantic 200-tonne railway howitzer, and the infamous ‘Big Babylon’ Iraqi supergun.’ SOURCE.

I liked the Nelson monument, the Burmese bronze dragon cannon and the massive Howitzer.
